Lab testing and screenings are an important part of the admission and assessment process here at Comprehensive Care Clinic.

These tests allow for proper diagnosis of both physical and mental illness, so each person in our care receives optimal treatment – specific to their own, individual needs.

The Importance of Lab Tests and Screenings

Both physical and psychological symptoms are usually a way of telling us that our bodies are going through something. Lab testing and screenings help in the assistance of identifying biological occurrences that may be contributing to symptoms. Essentially, lab tests and screenings allow for the gathering of unbiased scientific data that can tell our physicians and mental health specialists more about how the body is performing. Thus, providing sufficient information to determine accurate and effective treatment approaches.

Rather than giving people in our care a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, here at Comprehensive Care Clinic, we know that no two cases are the same. And, that individuals in our care deserve individualized care so they have the best chance of treatment success and healing. Prescribing medications and suggesting therapeutic methods without biological data is like taking a shot in the dark. But, lab testing and screenings provide us with accurate information that allows our medical staff to determine appropriate medications and treatment.

Types of Lab Testings and Screenings Available at Comprehensive Care Clinic

Lab tests and screenings will be ordered at the discretion of our mental health and medical staff on a patient by patient basis. Surely, medical history and initial assessments tell us a lot about a patient’s needs. But, lab testing and screenings can tell us more about why a person may be experiencing symptoms that may not be described in the initial patient assessment. In this case, specific screenings and tests will be ordered to determine underlying issues and proper diagnosis.

Lab testing and screening services available from Comprehensive Care Clinic include:

Urinary Analysis: UAs are helpful in identifying a number of biological happenings which may be the result of various symptoms. Some things UAs can help to identify include hormone imbalances, liver function issues, presence of inflammation (and infection), blood sugar and fat abnormalities, nutritional deficiencies, anemia, and more.

Blood Work: Blood testing can tell both physicians and mental health specialists a number of things about how organs are functioning. It can also offer information about heart disease, cancer, how medications are working in the body, and more.

PPD:  A purified protein derivative is a skin test that is used for tuberculosis testing.

STD and HIV Testing: Many individuals may not recognize the symptoms they experience as STDs or HIV. These tests are typically performed by urine analysis, blood tests, or cheek swabs.

Allergy Testing: Symptoms of allergic reactions differ from person to person. So, tests can help to pinpoint exact allergies in patients to reduce the chance of symptom flare-ups. Allergy tests usually require taking a small amount of skin for lab testing.

Health Risk Assessments: This testing prepares overall information about a person’s general health. It includes questioning patients to evaluate their general health and gathering physical information including a person’s height, weight, blood pressure, and more.

General Lab Testing: This involves a complete blood test that determines an individual’s white and red blood counts. This information is detrimental in determining nutritional factors, the presence of a number of disorders, and a person’s overall general health.
